Join Us for the
"Words by Baye, Art by Miki"
Launch Party!

"Words by Baye, Art by Miki" tells the story of how award-winning author Baye McNeil and his partner, Japanese artist Miki Hayashi McNeil, built a life in Japan that defies all expectations.

Miki designed their home, handcrafted much of the furniture, landscaped the driveway, etc. Meanwhile, Baye ended blackface in Japanese media, held corporations accountable for whitewashing, and pushed Japan to thoughtfully consider Black Lives Matter—all while juggling two news columns (in two languages). Not to mention ducking discarded paint, dodging flying tools, and hopscotching around two maniacal cats.

Two artistic souls sharing one abode is sure to be chaotic.  And yet, somehow, they’ve made it work!  "Words by Baye, Art by Miki" celebrates love, creativity, and conflict, with just enough discontent to keep it interesting!

Join us for an unforgettable evening of art and storytelling.
